Meltybrains? “The Vine”

Items of pure bizarre elegance rarely drop through our BR HQ letter box, however, every once in a while we get something that really leaves us stumped. Meltybrains? have been making avant-garde-leaning melodies for a minute now, but their forthcoming release is undoubtedly their most coherent offering yet; and it still maintains a grip on their vast array of influences.

“The Vine” takes as much from the likes of Afrobeats super-producer Don Jazzy as it does from Snarky Puppy. Produced and mixed by Kwes, the track sets its foundation on a tough clave snare pattern, allowing the band’s luscious auto-tune sprinkled harmonies to float freely until reaching a definite contender for percussion break of the year.

This one drops August 1st. Keep an eye peeled for the undoubtedly off the wall visual accompaniment.
