Saturday Six: Week 003

Africa’s rich and diverse cultural heritage is the perfect Petri dish for musical invention. Over the years, the world’s second-largest and second-most-populous continent has been the breeding ground for an array of different musical movements.

Boiler Room is fully aware of these and has embraced Africa’s numerous times, witnessed most recently on our tour of South African electronica alongside Ballantine’s Scotch Whisky. In Johannesburg, we’ll be hooking up with some of the country’s most exciting electronic artists – including Black Coffee and Okmalumkoolkat – to explore how culture and history have fused to create a completely unique and authentic local music scene.

In celebration of the continent, we’ve scoured through the BR archives to find some of our favourite, African-associated entries. Look below to find entries from last year’s memorable voyage to Marrakech, Romare’s Boiler Room debut back in 2012 and four others.

All hail Africa.
