Boiler Room New York 004/ Mr. MFN Exquire, Children Of The Night, Jim-E Stack, Flatbush Zombies, Slava, Haleek Maul & DJ Thoth

31 Jul 2012, 19:00 - 23:00 EDT

Hey you, don't you think it's about time to get uncomfortably excited about the prospect of New York rap being on Boiler Room. I know we had LE1F in the place already, but here we have pretty much a whole show centred around what is GOOD in the NY rap scene right now. Throw.. em.. up!

To kick off we have a man who puts Mr MFN before his name, just in case you didn't quite realise the situation already it's Mr MFN Exquire. Straight outta the dungeons of rap, aka Kingsborough, Brooklyn, he recently dropped his 'Lost in Translation' mixtape. So go check that because it's legit and then be sure you're online at tonight!

Children Of The Night are a group that fit right into that whole resurgence of raw rap music from New York's undeground at the moment. With that classic laid back style and incredible beat selection get ready to appreciat where they at. Roc Marciano does and in our eyes that makes them pretty unreal already!

More and more often we find ourselves appreciating any DJ/ producer who carries a recent issue of Time magazine with them at all times. There's just something wholly endearing about that isn't there. When all these people are saying rap music is warping the minds of our children, some guys are trying to help them better themselves. Jim-E Stack is an all-round awesome guy..

When it arose recently that Lana Del Ray is a massive fan of weed rap, the world took note of Flatbush Zombies. This felt incrdibly of overdue because Flatbush Zombies are some tight shit everyone should have got to know ages ago. They're about grills, smoking weed and thug waffles.. just like you!

Slava Balasanov put out a record on the incrdible Software imprint earlier in the year called 'Soft Control'. Aside from that you probably won't know much more about Slava than the Future Times release a couple years ago, which is also pretty damn tidy. I know what you're thinking, isn't this a little too housey for a hip-hop themed night. Well, isn't the artist base of influences he draws on from a similar era? Espesh with that new stuff he's been dropping!

Wanna see God?! How about sippin' on a pint of codeine, listening to Haleek Maul and painting a watercolour. When you come to you'll know exactly what is up. This guy is raw talent for sure by the way. He's 15 years old!

15!

DJ Thoth will also be playing records on the night. He's the DJ for Children Of The Night and will be getting the place incredibly warmed-up and awesome.
