While samba, bossa nova and MPB are known the world over, and more westerners are familiar with baile funk now than ever, the favelas of Brazil are constantly birthing new genres that rarely make waves abroad. DJ Vinimax, a household name of the Passinho scene, graciously invited us to his studio to explain what Passinho is, where it comes from, and what it means to the young people of Rio de Janeiro.
