We love a release with nice conceptual integrity, like this one from Local Action. Hathersage/Hull/Manchester/San Fransisco producer Finn is a sample collagist of the finest kind (and regular supplier of Boxed anthems), so it made sense to give his work a taste of its own medicine by getting DJ Q, Samename, Fallow and Adelaide’s finest, Strict Face to simply chop up and re-edit the original tracks rather than remix it from stems. This one’s a strangely churchy meeting of alien-angel vocals, R&B Spanish guitar and grimey lurches, and the rest of the EP – out next week – is just as good too. Preorder it here.
