Chet Faker isn’t the only artist celebrating their homecoming at next week’s RBxBR011 event in Melbourne. London-based Francis Inferno Orchestra, will also make the long haul return to give us an exclusive DJ set.
The producer, born Griffin James, has had an accomplished two years living in the Old Smoke, recording his first album A New Way Of Living and launching Superconscious Records with likeminded Melbournian Fantastic Man. His latter co-creation has been platform to Zanzibar Chanel splinters Imhotep and Luis Cl, Swedish analogue duo Mount Liberation Unlimited and, most recently, some cheeky edits from both label heads.
Recorded midweek at an empty Dance Tunnel while helping himself to a couple of ice cold Quilmes lagers, Griffin explained, “the idea of this mix was to showcase a wide variety of music that inspires the direction of Superconscious, as well as the music I produce.” It boils down his diverse appetite for quality, masterfully stepping between Mexican experimental music, whacky and cosmic Euro-disco, brutal Swedish techno and synth-pop sleaze – all in a matter of moves.
