On Saturday 5th December, we’re teaming up with Converse Rubber Tracks Live for a very special two-part broadcast marathon. 9 hours and 15+ artists, all in one day across London. We’ll be coasting down the Thames to kick off the celebrations, with a daytime boat party curated by four of London’s finest collectives: NTS Radio, Rye Wax, Domino and Lex Records. If that wasn’t enough, we will also be joined on deck by Bok Bok, Medlar, LA Priest and Lex Records signee Prefuse 73. Following on from this, the party moves to Oxford Street’s legendary 100 Club, for an intimate show with none other than power duo Run The Jewels headlining the evening’s affairs. Be sure to tune in on Saturday for a truly special one-off show.
Getting us set for the weekend, the Lex Records crew have come forward with the artists that they deem as hip-hop’s most exciting heads of the moment – one of which will also be joining us on the BR x Converse boat this weekend. With a small and highly selective roster orbiting primarily in the hip-hop realm, Lex are undoubtedly an imprint worth trusting. They’ve been consistently getting it right since their 2001 inception, with previous releases coming from the likes of Danger Mouse, DOOM and BadBadNotGood & Ghostface Killah. A prestigious name to have on Saturday’s all-star cast of boat curators, and a perfect fit to head up the hit list of who’s causing a stir in the rap and hip-hop games of today.
Michael Christmas, Boston USA
“He’s 20 years old, funny as hell, just dropped his awesome debut album What A Weird Day, currently touring the States with Mac Miller, and is fresh out the studio recording a collaborative LP with one of our all-time favourites, Prefuse73.”
Eric Biddines, Florida USA
“Eric is one half of recent Lex signing Golden Rules. His solo work comes with a darker, more electronic style but his infectious southern drawl and soulful choruses are still present.”
Haleek Maul, Barbados
“Just 18, this Barbadian kid has been dropping raw raps for several years already, and has worked with artists as varied as Last Japan, The-Drum, King Britt, WIFE and Forest Swords. This and “Money God” are highlights.”
Open Mike Eagle, Los Angeles USA
“Mike’s one of the wittiest rappers around. His satirical verses are full of surreal observations. Watch out 2016 – there’s wind of a collaborative album with our favourite UK-based hip-hop producer.”
High Lucia, Brighton UK
“The Lex wunderkid producer that crafts epic trap-esque soul, full of ethereal vocals and crystalline synths. Criminally slept on!”
Wertheimer, Minneapolis USA
“A reclusive producer who delivered us an EP of immaculate insanity in 2014. Check this unofficial “Six Degrees” remix to hear what he’s capable of.”
