Nangdo “Whooo”

Nangdo’s quaint flashes of footwork brilliance definitely deserve more earlobes. Boiler Room remembers his early dabbles with LA now-powerhouse, Soulection, that unlocked a higher-tempo pathway that only LAKIM could navigate as well. For the past few years, his Soundcloud his been a ripe sowing ground for tunes that mostly tick above 140BPM; stylistically unique, but still authentically bowing at the juke altar.

It wasn’t going to be long before TAR head honcho and Brainfeeder disciple, PBDY, caught wind. High On Clouds, Nangdo’s first outing on the enviably good imprint is heavy artillery. The Berlin producer doesn’t hold back over the six tracks, regularly pasting together skittering hi-hats and well-chosen sample fragments atop a feverishly paced backdrop.

Track #3 is the clear standout here though. Angelic choir snippets, and cloud-gazing pads that make you feel as close to a nimbus as you should be. High on clouds, indeed.
