Open Dance Floor Policy
Boiler Room strives to be a safe, comfortable and inclusive environment for all. By joining us, you agree to respect everyone in the Boiler Room community.
Our format is intimate by nature: our shows are presented in-the-round, with our audience in close proximity to artists. We are dedicated to building intentional spaces. However, it would be irresponsible to claim that all our shows are safe for everyone at all times.
We expect respect. We trust you to stay considerate and inclusive in how you speak and behave, and to be ready to take on board any feedback you receive.
Sharing
We aim to actively safeguard our artists, team, and community. We will always address and challenge any discriminatory or harassing behaviour at our shows. Attendees who are violent towards an artist, staff or fellow audience member will be removed from the venue by one of the security team. This includes touching without consent.
If anything or anyone does make you feel uncomfortable, you are invited to speak with one of our trained welfare team members, show security or production staff, or, for artists, your dedicated Artist Liaison. They will listen, support, and work with you to ensure your experience is addressed. If you prefer not to share during the event, contact us at [email protected] anytime afterwards. Our team is here to support you as best we can.
Filming
Most of our events are recorded for later streaming or documented in some format. Be conscious of this. This is a special moment for our artists and we urge you not to detract from that by behaving inappropriately. You are responsible for how you appear on camera. Please give artists ample space to perform.
Substances
While we do not condone the use of illegal drugs, your welfare will be our first priority in the event of any incidents arising from overconsumption. We ask you to be responsible for and mindful of your own limits with alcohol or any other substances for your safety and the safety of others. If you are worried that you or someone nearby may be unwell or need support, do not hesitate to seek assistance from one of our on-site staff.
Access
We are committed to improving the experience for disabled attendees at our events, so we prioritise accessible spaces first and foremost. We also acknowledge that access options will vary from venue to venue, so we publish access information ahead of each event. If you require additional information on venue access points, use of accessible toilets, a reserved space on the viewing platform, or anything else regarding access facilities for a Boiler Room show, please reach out via the form on this page. We’ll always do our best to meet your needs. Please note that all our events may use strobe lighting. If you would like your Personal Assistant to accompany you to a show, please request a free carer ticket via the form on this page. We aim to respond to all enquiries within three working days.
