Fronted by Colombian singer-songwriter Angelica Lopez and multi-instrumentalist and producer Magnus P.I, Penya is a group that knows percussion and its connection to the heart. The Afro-Latin collective’s latest Penya Investigations release on cassette is true testament to this – as is their forthcoming Acelere EP. Here, they look to expand their vision with originals and remixes, all guaranteed to be dancefloor selects.

Our pick of the bunch – DJ Khalab and Mess Morize’s remix of “Acelere” – is a bonafide masterpiece of dance music. Lopez’ lyrics blend with tribal percussion, demanding total surrender to the music. It’s a track that breathes new life. There is no doubt that, by the end of this remix, you will be moving. A lot.
