Our love affair with prominent Frankfurt club Robert Johnson is a full-bodied one. Respect is felt globally for the German institute, as its extensive directory of resident DJs remain loyal as their stardom grows. Take Gerd Janson and Ata, for example.
The new school of Robert Johnson residents steer the reins in this week’s Residents’ Hour. Listen to Orson Wells and Benjamin Milz hourlong b2b set, and read on to see what they had to say about one of Germany’s key clubbing hubs.
“What makes Robert Johnson special is that it’s based on a minimalistic approach. Its standards are very high regarding sound. It definitely has one of the best sound systems, and it’s always fun playing there. There was no particular story for our Residents’ Hour mix. It’s just the music that we enjoy playing. 6am-on-the-dancefloor vibe.
“When the club was formed, everything just fell into place. It’s something about the city. You get to know most of the people that are into the same stuff pretty fast. Frankfurt is small and there aren’t many clubs, but the scene is still very intense. This is mainly because of the history that the city went through with clubs like Omen, Dorian, Gray, etc.”
In a fortnight’s time, tune in for a Manchester special of Residents’ Hour. Catch all previous episodes here.
