The first of May is not like every other day in Berlin. In the past the focus of May Day has mostly been on left wing demonstrations and particularly anarchist and anti-fascist clashes with police. However in recent times it has become more known for the parties this raw energy has in turn fuelled. Whilst teaming up with some top local and international talent, we aim to tap into that energy of the day by bringing you a broadcast from one of Berlin’s most unique locations; Watergate terrace.
For this we’ve enlisted the help of M.A.N.D.Y. (Phillip Jung), to make his debut for us. At the core of the mighty Get Physical label, Philipp and his partner Patrick Bodmer have been on a steady, yet clear climb to dance music dominance in the past decade. It is easy to say that the Berlin house and techno landscape would not be what it is without them.
Francesco Tristano is a Luxembourgish classical and experimental pianist and composer. Whilst he performed for us at the end of last year in Hamburg, we’re sorry to say time he will not be sitting behind a grand piano. Expect something different, possibly more club-suited, but certainly just as amazing.
It would not make sense to present a show from the fantastic Watergate without the equally fantastic La Fleur. As a resident of the club for the last few years, her sling of highly praised EP’s on the club’s own label, aswell as the likes of Power Plant have made her a crowd favourite.
Off the back of their collaborative album ‘Transition’ on Traum, we are pleased to welcome Egokind & Ozean. These eccentric and modern club tracks include many seemingly improvised moments that it seems sure their live performance will certainly reflect that.
Last, but certainly not least, we welcome back Nathan Jonson AKA Hrdvsion. His output on Gigolo records, Rinse and of course Wagon Repair, plus his work as Midnight Operator with brother Mathew, have solidified him as a staple in Berlin and beyond.
