We’re embarking on a new True Music adventure in South Africa with Ballantine’s, taking in three cities at the forefront of the cutting-edge, forward-thinking sounds currently emanating from the Rainbow Nation.
We kick off in the cultural centre of Johannesburg, with a star-studded showcase highlighting a musical movement embodied by a rejection of traditional genre boundaries. Each artist playing embraces a wide palette of sounds, both local and global, old and new, to create a truly inclusive community that reflects the progressive values and aesthetics of a nation at the forefront of the global creative conversation.
From established stars such as Sho Madjozi, the genre-defying face of this exciting new wave, to the queen of Kalawa Jazmee, Busiswa - hot off a killer collaboration with Beyonce - through to the disjointed industrial-tinged Kwaito riddims of Stiff Pap, the high-octane multi-genre selections of dance floor energiser Doowap, the visceral Ballroom energy of DJ and performance artist Queezy, and Vogue Nights Jozi founder Lelowhatsgood. This line up is a who’s-who of South African cultural innovators, agitators and community leaders.
Look out for up coming announcements about the other cities we're visiting in SA, namely Cape Town and a long awaited visit to Durban...
