DJ Stingray floats back into view for the first time since 2014. An underrated Detroit hero who bangs out 200mph electro, this is going to get intense once the sun goes down.
How we haven't had Pearson Sound for five years is beyond us – the man's tunes have been played endlessly on BR since the very start. We've tried so many times lately to get him back, but it's never quite happened. Until now. He's flying into the festival especially for this set, so we're feeling extra blessed.
For those that haven't heard it, Palms Trax's EP on Dekmantel's label is right up there with 2016's best, so he had to be involved (& you can all stop asking for last year's lost set now). Another jock who played a Dekmantel show last year was San Francisco's Solar - in a monastery! - and it was so good, we couldn't resist a second tab.
Teeing up for the internationals are the home side. Friday's opening trio are all Dutch, which is only right: Aroy runs M>O>S and does a fine line in spectral alien jams a la Legowelt; Orpheu is the lovely gent steering the good HMS Red Light Radio; and Jan is quite simply a dope selector who will set the weekend off right.
