We're very excited to be teaming up with Ronnie Scott's, London's most prestigious jazz club, to broadcast one of the great Afrobeat ensembles of our time: Seun Kuti & Egypt 80.
Son of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Seun first played with Egypt 80 (Fela's band) at the age of eight, following in his father's footsteps as a saxophonist & vocalist as well as inheriting his social-consciousness & outspoken political opinions.
Seun has now been at the helm of Egypt 80 for more than twenty years, having worked with the likes of Brian Eno & John Reynolds, the band's most recent album, A Long Way To The Beginning, was produced by Grammy-winning jazz renaissance man Robert Glasper and is described by Kuti as "a soundtrack for the mindset of most young people in Africa today".
Limited tickets for the performance are available here.
