Celebrating the rich but untold stories of Belgian dance music, we're coming to you live from Ghent for a night in the Benelux underground.
The lucky few that are granted a spot on the guestlist can catch a screening of the definitive 2012 documentary 'The Sound of Belgium' from 17:00 - 19:00 CET - followed by a live broadcast of icons of Belgian underground music old and new.
At the end of the 80s, Belgium was taken by surprise by the New Beat, a once immensely popular, almost surreal type of dance music. Its unexpected success, though short-lived, left an indelible mark on the next generations of Belgian musicians. The Sound of Belgium' is a documentary that goes in search of the spirit of a nation, telling the story that has been widely ignored by ‘serious’ music critics and the mainstream media in general.
