Rioux

Dive into an hour of music to both move and meditate to, from the 'electronic noir' alchemist Rioux.

About this mix

After releasing my debut solo album, Fragmenta, on my label Human Pitch in October, this mix gave me the opportunity to explore my vaults of ambient and dance music, tangentially related to the more song-oriented world of Fragmenta. My artistic intention is to create a space in which one can both move and meditate.

All the music here is original, unreleased material including a remix and a couple of collaborations with dear friends. In the new year, I look forward to putting forth new records of my own and from genre-bending artists on Human Pitch.

Erin Rioux

Boiler Room says...

A more recent discovery in our books is 26-year-old New Yorker Rioux. Not so simple to categorise, his music is probably most accurately shelved under the 'electronic noir' genre — coined by Rioux himself.

When Fragmenta (Rioux's debut solo album on his Human Pitch label) first arrived in our inbox, we quickly grew fond of his musical alchemy of pop mixed with more avant-garde sensibilities. Ties to both dance and ambient music are prevalent throughout — a distinctive blend which also peppers his Upfront mix for us.

Dive into an hour of wholly original music to both move and meditate to, from the man himself.
