Bufiman “Die Mumie”
Our retinas have been firmly zeroed in on Malmö’s Fasaan Recordings since their organ-driven, Afro-funk freakout “Enjebeye” by Medicine in 2013. The label’s eighth offering comes from Bufiman (aka Jan Schulte) in the form of the Ältere Sachen 12″.
The songs on Ältere Sachen are actually six or seven years old, but not a day too aged in terms of crispness. Something that the Fasaan crew quickly spotted when they played alongside Schulte in Düsseldorf and “Die Mumie” first hit the tweeters. It’s tailor-made for the Swedish imprint, characterised by a pulsating fizzed-out lead and breakneck groove iced with dollops of swagger.
These almost lost recordings will get their shine through Fasaan Recordings in mid June.
