Modified Man “Thorns”

As you’ll soon find out, Modified Man — also known as Dave Koor and Wah Wah 45s chief, Adam Scrimshire — are synth specialists. The pair first joined on last year’s analogue-heavy Modifications: Set 1 EP. From lively, broken beat (Questionable Things, System Is Fatal) to Billy Cobham refixes (Stratus), down-tempo weirdness (Hythe Path) through to bubbling ambience (Fractus), its intent was clear: to stitch together soulful, full-bodied grooves using modern production techniques and vintage instruments.

They’ve also put together remixes for Dele Sosimi, Inkswel and Amp Fiddler, with a particularly special one to come from Kenyan star, Makadem via On The Corner.

“Thorns” is the first sniff at their next EP, which arrives on February 10th via their own Albert’s Favourites imprint. Embrace this brooding, five-minute synth serenade from two of London’s underrated veterans.
