Cio D’or “XLIV for Mike”
Six years after Die Faser, Cio D’Or (finally!) returns with another full-length. all in all, broken down into three separate, interlinking passages, has a truly interesting way with space and sonic design; cinematic flourishes sweep through glitchy interludes into minimal territory, and back again.
“XLIV for Mike” is one of the more straightforward cuts, but with synthetic effects that sound like Radiophonic Workshop oscillations and a zipper scratching on plastic, it’s still a far cry from the conventional, while still carrying enough heft to keep bodies rooted to the ‘floor.
