Headed up by longtime colleagues and collaborators Function (David Sumner) and Inland (Ed Davenport), Infrastructure New York spent the good part of 1998 to 2005 serving up the prolific output of both artists – with a few cameos from others along the way. Following a ten-year hiatus, Infrastructure has now re-emerged as a busy and consistent platform for modern electronic music, marking a new wave of material which has been dormant since Sumner’s first material on Sandwell District in 2007.

Since its resurgence, Sumner and Davenport have orchestrated a heavyweight set of releases: ten vinyl releases, two singles from avant-garde composer Campbell Irvine, a reissue of acid classics from Trackman (Mark Archer), a crossover single by Cassegrain & Tin Man, and plenty more. Now comes Infrastructure’s next milestone – Facticity. A 4 x 12” vinyl box set, CD and digital format compilation featuring fifteen tracks by key artists, label colleagues and new faces. Function, Inland, Campbell irvine, Post Scriptum, Cassegrain & Tin Man, Rrose, Efdemin, Vatican Shadow, Silent Servant, Blue Hour, Steve Bicknell and Cleric all feature; spinning a narrative that ranges from lush, ambient and post-club diversions, to contemporary floor-orientated techno and back again.

Our highlight off the compilation comes from the reputable Efdemin, whose “Kassiber” is a kaleidoscopic take on the well-versed techno rhetoric. A club-centred number adding to the compilation’s comprehensive showcase of widely varying electronic sounds. Facticity represents the foundations of what Infrastructure stands for – a manifesto for 2016 and beyond. We’re looking forward to see where things’ll go from here.
