The mighty Disko B Records out of Vienna has been plugged into the mainline of dark and strange club and art music for 23 (!) years now, with heavyweights like Patrick Pulsinger, Blake Baxter, Unit Mobeius and Chicks On Speed providing its foundations, but always being willing to branch out and take a punt on new projects. Flug 8, a new identity for musician-photographer Daniel Herrmann, is a project rooted in the kosmische-motorik traditions of pre-techno Germanic music, but with gloss and finesse that are pure 21st century and a beautiful sense of isolation that expresses a world where too many connections can make us paradoxically disconnected. This first track perfectly captures that, but also reminds us of how we can reconnect in darkened rooms in the mysterious hours of the night.
