With Personal Momentz, a wonderfully deep and meditative album, released only at the tail-end of last year, Mr. G apparently has an itch left to scratch – and we’re all the richer for it. “YO…” has got G’s fingerprints (or: logo?) all over: robust, hypnotic, with just the right balance of crunch and juice. Dude’s consistency would be alarming if it wasn’t so enjoyable.

Around the halfway mark a simple, slinky and devastatingly effective piano line slices clean through the dense atmosphere, before gradually coaxing the rhythm back to life. It’s an infectious wiggle in the dark; or, in G’s case, perhaps something a little more exuberant.
