Since emerging last year, Nachtbraker (Maurits Verwoerd) has been cultivating his laid back, funky house sound with his last four releases on various labels including Hudd Trax and Detroit Swindle‘s Heist Recordings. Verwoerd now returns to his roots by presenting his next opus, the Backstabber EP, on Dirt Crew Recordings – the imprint that also homed his very first release back in September of last year.

Our top pick and first up on the flip is “Time is of the Essence”, with a slow-developing, intrinsic funk that we have now learned to expect and love in Nachtbraker’s music. The track’s unbounded energy and embedded groove is anchored by its speaker-rattling bass line, making it an ultimate choice for any dancefloor.
