Max_M “Slope”

n.b: Today’s Debut was brought in months ago, well in advance of the news that Max Magrini’s life had been cut terribly short. We grappled with the decision as to whether to premiere a different track from this compilation, or quietly leave it entirely given the delicate situation, but it seemed most appropriate to do what we can only guess Max_M would have wanted; to carry on, and continue to spread his music as a testament to the legacy he leaves behind.

Thanks to Parachute for being so helpful throughout, and Boiler Room would like to extend our condolences once more to Max’s friends and family. – Gabriel Szatan, Editor

We’ve got a lot of love for Max_M and his namesake imprint. While firmly rooted in the techno scene, his unerring taste has seen great records tapped up as of late from the likes of Samuli KemppiFSGStanislav Tolkachev and Truss; hardly unknown names, but plucked from just far enough outside the usual hotspots to feel like outliers. It’s one of his strongest suits: and in working with worthy upstart Parachute Records – first on last year’s Toe Tag EP, and now on Fabric Safety Apparatus Vol.1 – he’s come up trumps again.

“Slope” sees the Milanese maestro in fine fettle. The track is typically driving, eyes-down techno with an indelible groove coursing throughout, and a keen appreciation of when to give and when to go. Flanked by South London Ordinance on one side and Clockwork the other, the compilation is a must. Cop it July 27th onwards.
