Black Booby “Jungle Booby”
Now for a jewel that has been floating around as a test pressing and anonymously hotting up various dances for a while now. Created by Black Booby label head Richard Rogers, “Jungle Booby” is a return to the label’s re-edit roots following their last release from Gene Hunt. This time Rogers rejigs the DNA of “Jungle D.J.” by late 70s French group Kikrokos, giving it a newfangled, disco makeover. It introduces itself with brutish syncopation lathered with a dusty, string section layer before slowly teasing in an animated bassline. A surefire way to soundtrack any overpacked and inebriated dancefloor over the summer months.
