Ellen Allien “Hoo”

As we promised, Ellen Allien is back. The BPitch Control boss’ latest instalment is the Turn Off Your Mind EP, comprising of two raw, unpolished tracks of pure techno magic produced on a Roland Aira TR-8, TVB 303 and a Jupiter Synth in Ellen’s living room. The EP evokes music time travel – most reminiscent of her time spent DJing at E-Wrk, Planet and Tresor in 1990s Berlin. On the A-side sits ‘Hoo’. A rolling 8:08 time span of kaleidoscopic acid-soaked patterns and a cyclical bass line, all generous on the reverb. Despite a low tessitura, ‘Hoo’s moments of euphoria are still palpable. Ellen brings the sheer joy and thrill back to Berlin techno.

29th April is the due date to turn up your speakers and Turn Off Your Mind. Grab it on Beatport a little earlier, from 18th April.
