Jacques Renault is back, yo. “Psyched Up,” off the forthcoming Talk System EP, takes all the sleaze and shimmer of the disco edits he made his name on, only a touch faster and more driven than we’re traditionally accustomed to. This Sisterhood edit retools it further, adding heft to the kicks and bending the backbone of the track into a weighty breakdown halfway through. The EP arrives via Jacques’ own Let’s Play House label, which has seen cracking releases as of late by the likes of Antipodean BR favs Fantastic Man and Francis Inferno Orchestra; by pure chance, the latter of which followed up from the Sisterhood boys at our Tief session last year.
