Pangaea may not take up as much of the spotlight as fellow Hessle Audio label owners Ben “UFO” Thomson and David Kennedy, aka Pearson Sound, but his production skills rival those of even the most acclaimed electronic artists. Otherwise known as Kevin McAuley, Pangaea has come a long way from his more modest bedroom setup. The reasons are simple: his releases are relentless and he is a mammoth when behind the decks. While his sound has changed a lot throughout the years, his feature-length debut, In Drum Play, is indicative of a man able to master any scene with tactile execution.

Off the album, “More is More to Burn” displays all the quirks and rhythm that are particular to Pangaea’s style. Throbbing with life and funk, the bass-led melody is charged throughout and laced with reversed vocal samples. This track goes far, even from a producer that is always pushing expectations.
