Stellar Wind “Search the Skies”
It’s important to big up the underdog, when what they’re doing is right up our street. Still in their teething process, newcomer London label Planetary Notions set out to ‘plot a sound that will consistently transport listeners and followers to a unique place that only club music can’. Despite being only two releases deep, they have fulfilled that exact manifesto wholeheartedly up until now.
As well as being a record label, Planetary Notions throw bi-monthly parties showcasing quality resident selectors that have rapidly earned them a loyal local fanbase. Their royal flush continues this month, with the Lovers Fall EP debuting two largely unknown but hotly tipped producers, Stellar Wind and DSC. The release embodies exactly what Planetary Notions is about — ‘piloting expertly constructed, bass-driven tech designed to move a dancefloor’.
Our flavour of the month is Stellar Wind’s A-side, “Search the Skies”. Borderline Autechre-y in its spacey, reverb-rich qualities, this track takes you on a trippy journey through swirling atmospheres and computer-distorted bird calls. A track that pays its homage to the label’s roots in soundsystem culture.
“Search the Skies” appears on the Lovers Fall EP, coming out 30th September via Planetary Notions.
