D’Marc Cantu “1twelve3one”

After a gratuitously busy 2014, Ann Arbor’s D’Marc Cantu is back – this time popping up on the quietly brilliant Brooklyn label, Thema. Fitting to title, That Love You Feel is a tender bag: a stew of languid melodies and vintage drum-machines. Next to his frenetically fun outings on Creme Organization (looking at you ‘Size and Shape‘), this record feels like D’Marc working a more serious stride. But after the wash of swoony atmospherics at the EP’s top-end, it’s ‘1twelve3one’ that really grabbed us by the lapels. If the first few tracks play gentle warm-up, this is glorious peak-time panic: quick kicks, berserk percs and an absolutely bat-shit irresistible appeal. A club weapon squared on instant gratification, this is the D’Marc for which we’re so fond.

That Love You Feel drops on Sept 21st – pre-order it here.
