Lil JaBBA “SiLeNCer”

For Local Action’s final outing of the year, the label has tapped up NY curio Lil Jabba. 47 is the EP name, but isn’t probably too far off the number of releases they’ve packed into the past twelve months. “SiLeNCeR.” feels like an amalgamation of their entire 2014 catalogue. There’s a lot going on here.

For one, the (restless) resting bed of beats is a surf ’n turf of skittering breaks set to a footwork pace. Then you’ve got the 80s B-movie horror atmospherics lurching around, and an eerily familiar melodic lead piercing through. Clocking in at a trim four minutes it should be a total mess, but somehow works out great. I mean, it’s Local Action – what did you expect? Go cop it on Dec 15th.
