Mr Beatnick is a scholar and a gentleman – a bona fide expert in everything soulful and strange, from jungle to Sun Ra, broken beat to retro drum machines, a very fine DJ indeed, and a general man about London town. In addition, since he turned his hand to four-to-the-floor beats with the majestic “Synthetes” in 2011, he’s slyly become one of the best synthetic disco producers in the world. This one had us smiling and swaying in the office on first play, and will sound like pure gold in a party situation.
