Nathan Fake and Wesley Matsell’s new Cambria Instruments label already got us salivating with a split release between the two Border Community-affiliated artists in August. NF’s track “Black Drift” was intriguing and restrained, a subtle return to the fray after two years without releases – but now we have “Nuuk” from his first full solo Cambria Instruments EP, and he’s really cut loose. It’s a stunner, somehow both fragile and nails-hard, and easily as spine-tingling as “The Sky Was Pink“. It’s good to have him back.
