Phil Gerus “Why All The Questions?”

First to strut down this week’s Debut red carpet is Moscow-born, Tokyo-based Phil Gerus. Having already supplied the goods to George Fitzgerald’s ManMakeMusic, Jazzanova’s Sonar Kollektiv and Kerri Chandler’s Madtech Records — the beat whiz has undoubtedly got some solid backup.

Enter “Why All The Questions?”, plucked from Phil’s upcoming 12” Pleasures and Pains EP and continuing to stir his cauldron of cassette pop, house, soul, R&B and funk. The track harks as a bonafide eighties throwback — funky bass stabs, soulful vocals and that quintessential eighties synthesiser sound all combine to deliver some explosive DeLorean dynamite.

Pleasures and Pains is released through Lumberjacks Boogie on wax only. Pre-order here.
